Taxes and ISO Rating: If you live within the Mountain View Fire District boundaries, you pay a tax rate of 11.747 mills for the general fund.
Currently, the Fire District has an ISO rating of 5/9. If a home or business is within five miles of a fire station and a 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant, you are rated a "5", all others have a rating of a "9". The ISO rating is how a Fire District/Department is rated for the service it provides. An ISO rating of "10" is said to have no fire protection, and a "1" is the best fire protection available. Why is an ISO rating needed? ISO ratings are used by your insurance company to set the rate that you pay for homeowners insurance. The lower the ISO rating, the lower your insurance rate will be.
