100 Forest Street, Dacono, Colorado 80514 | 303-833-3896
Built in 1973, it was the main fire station for the Dacono Area Fire Protection District throughout its entire existence. When the station was built, the apparatus area was planned to be a meeting area and the living area to be the apparatus floor.
Originally this building acted as a multi-purpose facility. It was the training center, maintenance and administrative building for the District. It was also used as one of the main election sites for the City of Dacono . The Dacono Fire District staffed this station with a 2-person paid crew during the days and volunteers at night. When the Dacono Fire District joined Mountain View Fire, it became Station #7. After the consolidation, Station #7 was also used as the maintenance shop until Station #2 was built.
At first the station was staffed 0700 hours to 1700 hours Monday through Friday. Then it was decided to extend this staffing for the entire week. With fewer volunteers responding, staffing was added from 0500 hours to 1700 hours, seven days a week. Prior to September of 2009 the station was staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The station was replaced with a new station located at 161 Perry Lane in August of 2009. An addition was added on to the old station in October of 2009 and this building now serves as the district maintenance facility.
