MVFPD | Station #4 - Niwot

Built in 1983, to accommodate the growth in the Niwot area and the need for more apparatus, Station #4 is located in the middle of the Niwot area.  All the apparatus was moved from the Niwot substation to here.  An all-volunteer station at that time, this station had many ties to a traditional eastern fire station.  Most of the volunteers worked for IBM on the East Coast and, in the early 70's, were transferred to the Boulder plant. 

With an increase in medical responses, AMR has housed an ambulance at this station on two separate occasions.  As the needs of the community increased, so did the size of the station. In 1995, a meeting area and crews quarters were added to the south side of the building.  This was followed by another remodel in 1999 to the north side changing the old kitchen and training room into a weight room and offices.  At one time, the Boulder County Sheriff had a substation at this location.
