The old fire station in the City of Dacono has finally been replaced with a new state of the art facility.  Construction took place in the fall of 2008 and the station was completed in September of 2009.  Located at 161 Perry Lane (just west of WCR 13 – also known as Colorado Blvd, at the corner of Perry Lane and WCR 12 – also as known as Grand Ave.) the placement of the new facility enhances the Fire District’s ability to improve its response times to new growth areas, while maintaining good response times to existing areas of the City.  Based on this new location, the Fire District believes that this station will provide service to the community for many years to come without the need to build additional stations.  Currently, this station has a fire engine (minimum staffing of 3 personnel) and medical ambulance (minimum staffing of two personnel) that responds in the City as well as to the surrounding areas.

The new facility has a number of features that will provide a safe environment for our Firefighters to live and work in the community.  Items such as a new method to capture exhaust fumes from the apparatus as they leave and enter the station; an alerting system that lessens the initial “shock” of receiving notice of an emergency call; and  individual sleeping areas for all personnel staying at the fire station.  The station also has a training room where personnel can meet and receive training both internally and from external sources, as well as other living areas that will enable our Firefighters to feel more at home while away from their real homes.

Last, but not least, this fire station was built using grant money from Energy Impact Grant Funds, thereby lessening the impact to the taxpayers of the Fire District.  This type of funding reflects the Staff and District Boards philosophy of trying to enhance the Districts infrastructure with as little impact to the taxpayers as possible.
