MVFPD | Communities Served - Town of Mead

The Town of Mead was founded in 1906 among a local farming community.  The current population is 2,300 which is the 2004 estimate, but is a growing population living within 4.7 square miles.  Located some 40 miles north of the Denver Metro Area, you can find the Town off Interstate 25 and Weld County Road 34.  Each year the Town hosts many different special events.  An Easter Egg hunt is held in April followed by a Fishing Derby in the Month of May.  Local Volunteers sponsor Mead Community Days in September and a Christmas Tree Lighting in December.  The town boasts a historical landmark, which is the Highland Lake Church, located on WCR 5, just north of WCR 34 1/2.  Mead is a growing community nestled among a Colorado farming backdrop.

Mountain View Fire protects the Town of Mead via our Station #3, which is housed in the same building as Town Hall. The Town of Mead is located at the northern end of the Fire District and is staffed by our career members.  Mead, like the other communities within the Fire District is a progressive town that is growing each year. MVFPD enjoys participating in the community events within the Town each year.  MVFPD and the Town of Mead having a working IGA between the two agencies to provide fire protection and pre-hospital transportation.
