Public Awareness Campaigns

The Mountain View Fire Protection District is pleased to announce its increased efforts to become more involved with the communities we serve. It is our intent to be more visible with ongoing public awareness campaigns and increased participation in planned community events.

Our initial project will be a significant effort to help those within, and those traveling through, our communities to better recognize Fire/Rescue equipment working on the streets. Using billboards and other media participation, the District will be showcasing the use of Chevron Stripping that has been installed on all Mountain View Engines and Ambulances. This is all part of a nearly world-wide effort to make emergency equipment more visible when stopped in lanes of traffic. It has been well established that this translates to a SAFER working environment for Fire/Rescue personnel, as well as safer streets for commuters. We are asking you to do your part by slowing down and moving over when you see the bright yellow and red stripes on emergency equipment.

The winter season and poor economic times have both helped produce an increase in carbon monoxide poisonings. The Center for Disease Control has indicated that each year in the United States, 20,000 people are hospitalized and 500 perish as a result of carbon monoxide. The staff and members of the Mountain View Fire Protection District strongly encourage you to install CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS in your homes.

Looking toward the near future, you can expect to see more safety messages, as well as Mountain View firefighters and staff participating in community events in Dacono, Erie, Mead and Niwot. We are proud to serve you and we look forward to seeing you soon.
