The Mountain View Fire Protection District Hazardous Materials Team specializes in providing critical skills and equipment needed during any emergency where hazardous materials may be present.
The MVFPD HMRT consists of firefighters with State of Colorado Hazardous Materials Technician certification. This certification is in addition to their normal firefighter duties. There are also personnel who are training to the State of Colorado Hazardous Materials Operations level. These personnel attend the same Haz Mat training throughout the year as our Technicians, providing needed support and assistance. This level of specialized training allows these personnel to mitigate any hazardous materials situation safely and effectively.
In 2011, with support from Anadarko Petroleum and Noble Energy, MVFPD took possession of a foam truck capable of assisting with large fuel spill incidents.
