CPR & First Aid Classes


MVFR recognizes that effective bystander CPR provided immediately after a cardiac arrest can double or even triple that individual's chances of survival. MVFR is committed to providing this life-saving training to members of the communities we serve.
The AHA’s Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements, or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. This class is a video-based, instructor-led course that covers:
- First aid basics
- Medical emergencies
- Injury emergencies
- Environmental emergencies
- Preventing illness and injury
- Adult CPR and AED use, Adult choking
- Infant CPR, infant choking
Heartsaver CPR AED is geared for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. This class is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR, and how to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants. This course teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills.
We are offering several upcoming classes. For CPR/AED certification as well as CPR/AED First Aid certification. There are 12 seats per session. You will receive class information via email after you register and pay.

If you have a group or business that resides in our jurisdiction and would like to have CPR/AED & First Aid certification class for your group or business, please email education@mvfpd.org. We do host classes at our instructor's availability at our training station located in Longmont.

Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner (online), followed by a hands-on skills assessment session. For those students who have already completed the online portion of the AHA course, MVFPD offers the certification Hands-On Skills Assessment Sessions! For more information please email education@mvfpd.org
Hands-On Skills Assessment Sessions costs do not include the online portion of the Blended Learning Course. That may be purchased separately on the AHA website. You MUST bring a printed completed certificate to participate in the hands-on skills assessment session-you receive this after you pass the online portion of the class.
