Posted on: Sunday, September 12, 2021

In the early morning hours of September 10, 2021, a Mountain View Fire Type 3 engine was engaged in night operations on the Antelope fire in California.  Due to erratic extreme fire behavior the engine was damaged by the advancing fire.  All Mountain View firefighters safely returned back to the incident command post where they were relieved of duty and the engine taken out of service.  The crew has returned to Colorado and the engine is being transported back to Mountain View’s maintenance facility for repairs prior to being placed back in service in fire district.  As part of standard operations, an investigation will be done.
